MILF, PNP SAF and the Fallen 44, Part 4

A short essay here lifted from my discussion  with some friends in fb.

If I were resigned Police Gen. Alan Purisima, I will publicly admit that my intervention and ego-tripping led to that huge casualty in ‪#‎Mamasapano last January 25. Then I will visit personally many family members of the dead cops to ask for forgiveness. If they remain very angry at me, I will commit suicide.

In this PDI report last February 12, he has publicly admitted that he did intervene, but only after he was cornered by Sen. Miriam Santiago. "Kung di ka siguro nakisali baka buhay pa sila (Fallen 44)".

That was a brutal, murderously frank assessment by the lady Senator. If I was the  one being reprimanded publicly with that statement, I would melt like a lighted candle. The death of the Fallen 44 was because of my interventionism, wow.

I think humility is a strange or alien concept for this suspended bureaucrat. Maybe he thinks shamelessness and corruption is the rule, not the exception, for many government officials, especially in the armed agencies like AFP and PNP. Fellow police and military officials who know his corrupt practices would be too shy to spill the beans. It required the death of 44 commandos + dead civilians + huge public distrust in the peace agreement with MILF for him to be finally cornered.

I also notice that Puri does not even look like a respectable police official. He is fat, he walks slow, and looks arrogant.

So I don't expect Puri to apologize to 3 groups of people: (1) Legislators that he lied to in his testimony, as he swore under oath not to lie; (2) the public for lying repeatedly that he did not intervene, that he did not pressure Napenas, and most importantly, (3) families of the dead cops.

He has no or little humility, and will most likely not admit to many other wrong doing where he has pending administrative if not criminal charges.

Severe punishment should come from oneself, if one has humility. If the PNP Board of Inquiry, the Senate, HOR, DOJ, etc. pin him down, he should go to jail at least. But turning around 180 degrees, throw away his arrogance and sincerely apologize, that will drastically reduce public anger at him. He has other corruption charges to face aside from Mamasapano, so his hell in life should continue. Or he will persist with his arrogance and declare that he is innocent in the various corruption and robbery charges.

Even if Napenas and team killed 2 or 5 Marwans but lost 44 men + put huge distrust, huge question mark, on having a peace agreement between the PH government and  the MILF, that "achievement" is not justified. Between congratulating an officer who is willing to be the fall guy, to accept all responsibility and accountability, and berating that officer who continue to lie in public for not pointing out the real mastermind of that operation -- the suspended bureaucrat Purisima -- I am inclined to the latter. That until now he does not point Purisima as the mastermind, the one who commanded him, is continued lying. It is wrong. Napenas should also apologize to the public, to the families of the dead cops. And commit suicide too if the family members hate him and Puri so much until now.

The plan to catch Marwan has been made for 10 years or so. The plot however, to hasten to get Marwan, the desire to get the accolade and laurel by his own, possibly with no credit to PNP OIC, DILG Secretary AFP Chief of Staff, ARMM Governor, etc., that plot is Purisima's alone. Gusto talaga nya maging bida, maging sikat, at si PNoy naman tango lang ng tango sa plano ni Puri. Damay na sya ngayon.

It is highly possible to get Marwan with minimum casualty if the formal chain of command was followed. If not last Jan. 25, maybe the following week or month.

Crucial role was also played by some MILF people and informers-- them who guided the SAF to the exact location of Marwan, where to enter and crawl, etc.

I agree with former President FVR in this news here, the President is part of the problem.

Suspended bureaucrat Purisima is ground zero. He forced his way in the planning and execution of the botched operation. Resigned SAF chief Napenas obeyed the suspended bureaucrat and failed to follow the lawful chain of command in the PNP and DILG. PNoy gave permission to this suspended bureaucrat.

The President should also apologize for breaking his own chain of command. Although I do not support calls for his resignation. That "solution" is worse than the problem it intends to solve.

I was also wondering about this. PNP heads like resigned Purisima and Officer in charge (OIC) Espina are all from the PMA, they were even batchmates. Bakit puro PMA ang top officers ng PNP? OA de insecure naman yang maraming PMA grads, gusto sila lahat leaders. Pati NBI, private security agencies, PMAers din?
